Financial Adviser

We are looking for a qualified adviser who would rather give somebody a straight answer than sell them something. You will carry your own client relationships from the first meeting to the review three years later.

About the role

What this job actually involves

Most of our work is mortgages, pensions, retirement planning and protection, split fairly evenly between people on payroll and the business owners who run it. The advice is independent: we are not tied to one provider, and we are not chasing a product target set by somebody else.

You would take your own meetings, do your own research across the market, write your own recommendations and keep your own clients. There is administrative support behind you, and the compliance work is properly resourced rather than something you do at nine on a Friday night.

What you would be doing

01 Meet new and existing clients, in the office, at their kitchen table or on a call, and find out what they actually need.
02 Research across the whole market and write recommendations you would be happy to defend in three years.
03 Handle mortgage applications end to end, including the awkward cases: self-employed income, contract work, add-backs.
04 Review existing pensions and protection, and say plainly when the answer is to leave something alone.
05 Keep files, suitability letters and disclosures in order, to Central Bank standards.
06 Build your own pipeline from referrals, our content and the enquiries that come in.

What we are looking for

  • QFA, or RPA with QFA in progress and a clear plan to finish it.
  • At least three years advising clients in an Irish brokerage, bank or life company.
  • A working knowledge of the Irish pension and mortgage market as it actually operates, not as the textbook describes it.
  • The ability to explain a complicated thing in plain English to somebody who is worried about money.
  • Full driving licence, because some of this work happens at the client’s kitchen table.

Nice to have, not essential

  • SIA or CFP, or an interest in working towards one.
  • Experience with company directors and executive pensions.
  • Experience of auto-enrolment and what it means for employers.
What we offer

The package

01 Salary reviewed yearly, plus commission on the business you write.
02 Executive pension with a proper employer contribution. We would look poor advising on pensions and not funding our own.
03 Income protection and life cover from day one.
04 Study support and paid exam leave for CPD and further qualifications.
05 Hybrid working and genuine flexibility around school runs and appointments.
06 A book of existing clients to look after rather than a cold start.
